Start and finish of the WC marathon 2009

You don’t have to participate in the 2009 World Championships of Athletics to experience the original marathon course of the champions run.

Now both regular and occasional runners have the opportunity to take the champions route and see the sights of Berlin - on almost every day and every time of the day, including after the championships themselves.

Even better: The actual day and the start time is your choice. Leave the stopwatch and competitive spirits at home. Instead experience with your personal guide a tour of a special kind at a relaxed speed.

If you're up to more then 10 km sightseeing, then just add another 2.195 meters and run the marathon extra loop, while listening to your guide give you interesting information along the way.

Start and finish are the famous Brandenburg Gate. It is probably best to begin early in the morning, when the city is still sleeping, and be picked-up at your place of choice i.e. your hotel. Please calculate about 60 to 90 minutes with a small group of 4 runners at the most.

Fun, entertainment and fitness for body and soul will make this Sight-Run an exceptional and unforgettable event. What are you waiting for?

World Championships in Athletics 2009: All eyes will be on Berlin

Marathon World Championships - The fast marathon route of Berlin

With the World Championships in Athletics 2009 - the third largest international sporting event following the Olympic Games and the Football World Cup - is coming to Berlin from August 15th to the 23rd, where the best track and field athletes in the world will compete for world champion status in the incredible Olympic Stadium.

For the first time in the history of this major athletics event, the course will not begin or end in the historical Berlin Olympic Stadium, but rather lead through the heart of Berlin. Berliners and guests from all over the world will not only be able to enjoy the top athletes in the stadium. They'll also see them start and finish at the Brandenburg Gate, could there be any better backdrop?

The 10 km marathon loop...
will lead past Potsdamer Platz, the Victory Column, Bellevue Palace, the Reichstag, the Museum Island, and down the grand boulevard Unter den Linden back to its point of origin at the Brandenburg Gate. An extra 2.195 km loop around Alexanderplatz and past Berlin's City Hall has been added to the forth lap to complete the 42.195 km marathon course.
